MSc. Peng, Z.
Zhuochao (Chao) Peng is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. He is involved in the 'Design for Mood Regulation' project and his research focuses on designerly mood granularity in UX design practices.
Academic Background
Before joining TU Delft, Chao has had a background combining design and engineering. For his BEng, Chao studied mechanical design and manufacturing at Hebei University of Technology (Tianjin, China). During his master's studies at Hunan University (Changsha, China), Chao sharped his design skills in industrial product design and found his passion for experience-driven design research.
In September 2021, Chao became a part of the Delft Institution of Positive Design (DIoPD) and started to research the nuances of human experiences here. Under the supervision of Prof. dr. ir. Pieter Desmet and Dr. Haian Xue, Chao intends to shed light on the distinctive place of mood in UX design and develop tools (or other means of knowledge transfer) to enhance UX designers' mood granularity – a designerly ability to recognize different types of moods and deliberately consider them in the design process.
