Dr. Secomandi, F.
Fernando Secomandi is assistant professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Fernando's current research interests focus on design’s contribution to social justice through the creation of human-centered AI-enabled interfaces for new services.
Since 2008 my research and publications have concentrated at the intersection of design and philosophy of technology. From 2015 to 2021, I taught at the Rio de Janeiro State University (Esdi-Uerj), where I also assumed the positions of vice coordinator of the graduate program and of coordinator of research. In recent years I have consulted part time for global corporations on design-driven digital innovation. I hold a bachelor degree in Industrial Design (Esdi-Uerj, 2003), a MSc degree in Strategic Product Design (TU Delft, 2007), and a PhD in Design (TU Delft, 2012).
As of July 2021 I am Deputy Editor for Design Studies, a leading academic journal published by Elsevier.
