Financial assistance (RPF) in case of unforeseen circumstances

When your study delay occurs within the period of the performance grant (for Dutch students and other EEA-students who are eligible for the performance grant) or within the nominal study duration (for non-EEA students and EEA-students who are not eligible for the performance grant) as a result of a situation that you cannot control yourself you might be eligible for financial assistance from the Profiling Fund (RPF).

In this overview you can find out which facilities you may be eligible for:

  • Dutch students and other EEA students entitled to a performance grant, who are delayed due to illness may only be eligible for financial assistance from the Profileringsfonds if they are delayed for more than 12 months. They may first be eligible for extension of the performance grant (see Article 5 of the Regulations).
  • Non-EEA students and EEA students who are not entitled to a performance grant, who are delayed due to illness may be eligible for financial assistance from the Profileringsfonds, even if the delay is less than 12 months.

Make sure you start applying well before the end of the student grant or the end of the nominal study duration.

The procedure for applying for a DUO support or financial assistance consists of the steps below (a modification of the step-by-step plan is still in progress).

  1. Contact your academic counsellor as soon as possible. This will prevent you from submitting the application too late and deducting recognised/payable RPF months. In case of doubt, contact us timely at contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl
  2. Complete the application form and carefully read the instructions on the back of the form.
  3. Submit the required attachments with the application form even if it is not yet complete.
  4. A request for financial assistance will be processed further once the application is complete.
  5. We aim to reach a decision within 8 weeks.

Specific information regarding the Profiling Fund Scheme can be found here.

Payment

Payment will be made at the end of the performance grant period, including any extension by one year by DUO ("Verlenging Prestatiebeurs"). For international students without a performance grant, payment will be made after the nominal study duration.
As long as you receive payment, you must remain registered as a full-time student at a European educational institute.
