1st years MSc students

On this page, you can find the most important information for first-year master students.

Student Portal

At the Student Portal, you can find information about the services, the organisation and the education.

Reception Day

On Friday 30 August 2024, we welcome every first-year master student at the Master Kick-off Day. During this day, you will engage in some activities for a great start at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering. You will meet your track coordinator, mentor and mentor group. You will receive additional information concerning the exact time and location by email.

Mentor

All first-year master students are placed in peer groups.  Peer groups are a great way to get to know other new master students from your track. They are led by senior-year master students and during the meetings you can ask questions to help you make a smooth transition into your master study.

NetID

Your NetID will be necessary for all ICT facilities, like Brightspace and your TU Delft email. Besides this, you need your NetID for ordering lecture notes or a laptop. If you experience any problems logging in, please bring the letter with your NetID and one-time-key (one-time login code), together with a proof of identity. The ServiceDesk can be found at the main entrance of the faculty (Kluyverweg 1, building 62).

My TUDelft App

On MyTUDelft App, you will find your grades, the courses you are registered in, the study progress and credits accomplished. Here, you can download your proof of enrolment in the faculty study programme and find your digital student card. These can be done under My Account.

Academic Calendar

Check the academic calendar for a good plan for your studies.

Course Description

In our digital study guide, you can find the descriptions of all the courses offered at TU Delft.

My Study Planning

On My Study Planning portal, you can select your MSc track and courses, and change them later if needed. Here, you can check the courses you are enrolled in.

Academic Counsellors

For personal and study-related questions or problems, you can consult the academic counsellors. You can think about MSC, study delay, study doubts and reporting illness/disability. Here you can find more information concerning the academic counsellors.

Events

On the website of the Study Association of our faculty (VSV Leonardo da Vinci), you can find interesting events (e.g. lunch lectures, career week, excursions) for you.

Brightspace

Brightspace is the learning environment we use to host the courses.

Every student has an account on this learning platform based on their NetID. When you receive your NetID, you will be asked to set a password. With these credentials, you will be able to navigate on Brightspace.

Once logged in to the platform, you will see on the menu bar: My Home, My Timetable, MyTUDelft, Catalog, Resources, and Help.

My Home: On this page, you will access your past, current and future courses. To enrol on a course, you should go to Catalog, search for the course name and click enrol. Once enrolled, you will see the course on My Home page. Here you can also find all the notifications regarding:

  • Your courses: lecture cancelled, exam scheduled, course material uploaded, etc.
  • Your grades: you might have notifications when lecturers upload the grades on Brightspace
  • Other notifications: student job opportunities, internship positions, etc.

My Timetable: On this webpage, you will access your customised timetable. For more information, please read the section Timetables.

MyTUDelft: If you access this webpage, you will be directed to the OSIRIS Student Application where all your final grades are displayed. If you want to know about the MyTUDelft app, please read the section MyTUDelft App.

Catalog: On this webpage, you can enrol on different courses. NOTE: If you enrol in the Catalog, it does not mean that you are officially enrolled on the course. To officially enrol on the courses, you need to access the My Study Planning portal. Read My Study Planning section to know more about this.

Resources: Here you can find different pages useful for your studies, such as Collegerama (a platform where you can find recordings from lectures and course material), career information, Student Portal, and Software download list.

Help: If you need online student support you can access the Help page.

Timetables

Your timetables will be available via MyTimetable in August.

Your Timetable will be empty the first time you log in with your NetID and password. To add your courses to your calendar, you should search them by their name or code and add them. You can then visualise your lectures/seminars/exams and so on. Tip: if there are any changes during the year regarding the location or date of the lecture, you can find it easily in My Timetable.

Apart from checking your calendar, you can access the calendar of different courses or lecture halls. To do that, you need to access Overview located at the top-right corner.

Laptop Project

The TU Delft offers both BSc and MSc students the possibility to buy a laptop. For Aerospace Engineering it is highly recommended that students use a Microsoft Windows operating system on a high-end laptop. The required installation of specific AE software during your studies may lead to problems for MacBook users. More information about the laptop project can be found here and further details about the laptop requirements for AE can be found here. If a hardware failure occurs you can bring the laptop to the Student IT Desk (Cornelis Drebbelweg 5, building 35) on campus, where it will be repaired. During the repair period, you can borrow a laptop to continue working. More information can be found here.

Internet access on campus

The internet connection on campus is given by Eduroam. You can connect to the Eduroam wifi with your credentials (NetID@student.tudelft.nl and the password of your NetID).

Software licenses

If you need extra software requiring licenses, please go to Software offered by TU Delft. Also, you can find this page when logged in to Brightspace and access the Software portal via Resources.

Remotely access to your studies

You can use TU Delft weblogin portal to access a computer remotely. Most applications available on the standard workspace are also in the Citrix environment.

Printing at the faculty

You can use the faculty printers with your NetID and your documents need to be uploaded on the Printing Portal. There you upgrade your credit and pay for the service via your campus card.

E-service

E-Service is an electronic platform at the TU Delft. The platform gives you access to check your personal information regarding your relationship with TU Delft, how this information is published and how this information is shared with third parties. It is also the platform where you can manage your businesses regarding your electronic identity (NetID).

X TU Delft

The campus has a sports centre, X TU Delft, where you can enrol for different social activities. They have a wide range of activities that you can participate in. Every academic year, there are a few trial days. The tariffs and activities are displayed on the X TU Delft website.
