MEP - Sample-free and real-time bioreactor monitoring with Raman spectroscopy
Preferred start date: September 2023
Supervisor: Maarten Klaverdijk (TU Delft)
In this project you will be able to gain experience with state-of-the-art Raman spectroscopy and automatic bioreactor monitoring, which is highly relevant for bioprocess engineering and bioprocess development research in industry and academia. You will design and perform an experimental study to determine the influence of bubble and cell density on Raman spectroscopy signals to ensure robust model development for real-time monitoring applications. MEP - TU Delft & Erasmus MC: Experimental optimization of tumor cell line expansion
Project is available per February 2023 (later start dates are also possible)
Supervisor: Marieke Klijn (TU Delft) and Koen Bezemer (Erasmus MC)
In this project you can utilize the unique LST combination of bioprocess engineering expertise and wet lab skills to make a true impact on society. The Core Facility for Cell and Gene therapy at Erasmus MC is looking for alternative production methods to optimize the tumor cell line expansion to produce tumor lysate-pulsed autologous dendritic cell immunotherapies. You will evaluate the current bottlenecks in the process and perform an empirical pilot study to evaluate the applicability of microcarriers to realize a bioreactor-based production process. More information: Project description
MEP - TU Delft & Erasmus MC: Modelling and debottlenecking a NVD-based oncolytic viro-therapy production process
Project is available per February 2023 (later start dates are also possible)
Supervisor: Marieke Klijn (TU Delft) and Bernadette van den Hoogen (Erasmus MC)
In this project you can utilize your modelling and bioprocess engineering expertise to innovate the production of an advanced therapeutic. This computational MSc project will investigate the current bottlenecks in the production process and solve scale-up limitations by providing alternative processing schemes and/or new technologies. This project offers the opportunity to take a deep dive into process debottlenecking and optimization while expanding your knowledge by learning how advanced therapeutics are made at Erasmus MC. More information: Project description.
