SusCritMat Summer school, 10-12 July, Cambridge

Nieuws - 25 april 2019 - Circular Built Environment Hub

Summer school for educators on the sustainable management of critical raw materials. Critical materials are materials which we need for current and future product technologies, but which are now or soon difficult to acquire, for economical, political, or technical reasons. This emerging academic field is important to create a sustainable future.

The school includes lectures, exercises and inspirational talks about criticality, responsible mining, geopolitical factors, different assessment tools and circular economy principles. Furthermore, teaching concepts and learning outcomes will be analysed and discussed.

The school is divided in 3 days with each its own focus:

  • Day 1: Introduction to criticality
  • Day 2: Analysis of criticality
  • Day 3: Solutions

These lectures and exercises will be given by amongst others Dominique Guyonnet (BRGM), Gus Gunn (British Geological Survey), David Peck and Ruud Balkenende (TU Delft), Patrick Wäger (Empa), Steven Young (University of Waterloo), James Goddin (Granta Design).
