From Form to Venue: Architectural form as an amplifier for music venues

What if architectural forms are actively used to design a building for music? And what if a festival becomes a building? This project investigates how architectural form can contribute to the experience of a music venue. The concept of a festival as a typology is also explored. The idea to treat the venue as a festival originated from research on the design location: the Binckhorst, located in The Hague. The concept of the design stretches the importance of a public space where visitors can explore in all directions and where activities are happening everywhere. The design can be described as a vertical festival of forms. It is characterized by unique and recognizable forms supported by a modular system. Through architectural appearance and its programme, the building responds to the wider context. The design thereby amplifies the Binckhorst and the experience of going to a concert.
