Sensing Hotterdam

ET&D team member Alex Wandl contributes to the 3TU.Bouw Centre of Excellence for the Built Environment research project Sensing Hotterdam.

The aim of Sensing Hotterdam is to develop a better understanding of the overheating of house to be used as input for the development of concepts for cooler cities, cities with a reduced need of mechanical cooling and a better comfort for their inhabitants. The ambition is to develop a method that can successfully link energy-‐efficiency of buildings to weather and satellite data in order to better predict overheating problems of dwellings and the relation to the wellbeing of citizens on a citywide scale. More than 1000 households in Rotterdam are participating.
