Dr. Bendor, R.
Roy Bendor is assistant professor of Critical Design at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. His work explores the social and political contexts of design, and in particular the ways in which different values, imaginaries, and ideological dispositions shape the design of civic media, smart city infrastructure, and sustainability futures.
Academic Background
Roy’s academic background includes media studies, philosophy of technology, and environmental communication. He completed a PhD at Simon Fraser University’s School of Communication, a postdoc at the University of British Columbia’s Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability, and joined the faculty in 2016. In addition to his research and teaching at TUD, Roy is also a Fellow of the Urban Futures Studio at Utrecht University, and editor of the Sustainability in (inter)Action forum in the ACM’s Interactions magazine.
