MSc. De Lille, C.S.H.
Christine De Lille is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.
Academic Background
Christine De Lille is an Assistant Professor at the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. She investigates ‘Designing User-Centered Organisations’ with a focus on the practice of small to medium-sized enterprises (such as Difrax, Bammens and Alrec Displays), supporting organisations (such as the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Flanders InShape) as well as the aviation industry (for companies such as KLM, Schiphol Airport and Zodiac Aerospace). Main areas of her work include service design and user-centred design, and how a user-centered perspective impacts and transforms organisations.
Christine is Workpackage leader in the European PASSME project (see below) where she investigates how companies in the aviation industry can become more passenger and employee centered. Christine is a member of the Design Research Society, co-founder of its Design Management Special Interest Group, and organizer of various conferences (such as Mobile HCI 2008 and IASDR 2011). Christine De Lille lectures primarily in the MSc. programmes ‘Strategic Product Design’ and “Design for Interaction" at her faculty in Delft, and is also a frequent guest speaker to other universities and schools as well as various networks in practice, such as the Dutch Design Management Network. One of her classes was awarded the Crystal Cabin Award in 2014, a prestigious award within the aviation industry.
Present Projects
PASSME (Personalised Airport Systems for Seamless Mobility and Experience) 2015-2018 PASSME is an European H2020 project (grant number 636308) and aims to deliver industry-driven, passenger-centric novel solutions (up to TRL6) for passengers, airports and airlines to address the anticipated increase in demand for commercial flights in Europe by 2050. The overall objective is to reduce travel time by at least 60 minutes by integrating information between all stakeholders and transforming airport and aircraft operations and interiors to make the passenger journey time efficient, seamless, robust and accessible. Reduce stress of passengers by providing personalised information, thereby increasing the quality of the overall experience.
Twelve partners are working together in this project, of which TU Delft is coordinator. Other partners include: University of Nottingham (UK), ICCS (Greece), NLR (NL), KLM (NL), Schiphol Airport (NL), Hamburg Airport (Germany), DLR (Germany), TUHH (Germany), ALMA design (Portugal), Optimares (Italy) and Carr (Ireland). www.passme.eu
Past Projects
- CRISP (Creative Industry Scientific Programme) 2011-2015
National project of 4 years, co-funded by the Dutch government (total budget 20 million Euro) with 60 partners from the industry and academia.
Focus on investigating the changing role of design, and creating a body of knowledge on Product Service Systems (PSS). - CRISP magazine editor 2012-2015
Magazine to showcase projects of CRISP as well as fuel an international discussion on design and PSS. - Co-Design Pressure Cooker 2009
Regional project with the Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Utrecht, bringing Co-design to SMEs. During 6 months, 10 SMEs were supported by design agencies and user-centered design experts in co-designing new products with users and other stakeholders.
