Groutars, E.G.
Eduard (Ward) Groutars is a Phd candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. His research focuses on the potentials of Living Artefacts and a Multispecies Perspective for Regenerative Design.
Academic Background
Initially studying to become an 'Industrial' Designer, his innate fascination with the natural world led him to specialize in Biodesign during the last year of his MSc. Here he's had the pleasure to collaborate with microbiologists and various species of living organisms, developing both grown materials and alive functionalities whilst asking how these might change our daily lives and relationship to nature. In his current and upcoming research, he aims to explore how we can work with living organisms that are not isolated but connected to the surrounding ecological systems.
