A harmless car and other impossible projects with Thomas Thwaites

On Friday 3 June 2022 (13:30 – 14:30) in the IDE Arena, designer and artist Thomas Thwaites will talk about his residency with Machine Wilderness at the Artis Zoo, where he is weaving a car chassis/body from willow stalks.

The woven chassis will become part of his project to create a completely Harmless Car - an impossible object. During the talk, Thomas will also discuss his process of enquiry and critique around issues in sustainable design through his attempts at other impossible projects: making an electric toaster from scratch and taking a holiday from being a human by becoming a goat.

The talk will be hosted by IDE Assistant Professor Jun Wu.
