Dr. Kermavnar, T.

TjaĆĄa Kermavnar is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. TjaĆĄa's main research interests lie at the intersection of medical and social sciences with design in the broadest sense, aiming to enable people to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Since May 2021, TjaĆĄa has been the lead researcher on several studies exploring design for mood regulation. She has been participating as a coach in six BSc and MSc courses, including Advanced Concept Design, DfI Research Methodology, Human Factors/Ergonomics, Data, Understanding Humans, and Health. At present, she is also supervising two MSc graduation projects.

Academic Background

TjaĆĄa holds a medical degree, a bachelor's degree in industrial design, and a doctoral degree in ergonomics. Her doctoral and prior postdoctoral research focused on exoskeletons and 3D printing of medical devices. She has taught design and ergonomics at the university and secondary-school level, and wrote and illustrated the first Slovenian textbook on human-centred design. TjaĆĄa also co-authored two handbooks involving ergonomics, and published several scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
